I checked. Online forums describe this data recovery centre as a SCAM and FRAUD for cheating people out of cancellation fees. DO NOT send your drive here.

I freaked out when my laptop dropped on the floor. The screen was smashed, and my mind was blank. All my data seemed gone, and my laptop was not functioning at all. My friend told me to get data recovery, so I googled and found ADRC. The staff were really friendly and clear in explaining what was involved. Even though I ultimately decided to get a new laptop, my data was recovered thanks to ADRC. I hope my review will help anyone who is facing the same problem as me. ADRC really helps! All the best to you :)

This is very disappointing. After reading so many reviews about this ADRC company and its fake good reviews, I now realize I am a victim of this cancellation fee scam. I was scammed S$100 for a "priority" evaluation and was quoted nearly S$3000 for my data recovery quest. Google should not rank their website so high because they are undeserving.

Here's the lightly edited review: Hi everyone, This is a firsthand account of my experience with ADRC. I visited this data recovery place at Science and wanted to speak to the engineer in charge. Apparently, he is the boss of ADRC, Felix. He looked at me from top to bottom, then asked his staff to speak to me and just walked away. Talk about customer service! Since I was already at the centre, I submitted my hard disk to the staff. At that point, the staff member was in a bad mood, as if I had owed her a lifetime debt. She just took my hard drive and passed me a receipt. I did tell her I needed my drive to be looked at urgently. She just nodded her head. I left and waited for the results. In the evening, I checked my email. I was surprised to receive the evaluation results quite quickly. But to my horror, I was quoted nearly $3000 for my data recovery job! I was in utter shock! I called the company the next day and requested to speak to Felix. The girl replied, "My boss is very busy with important jobs and is not free to speak to you!" What nonsense is this? I then requested to collect my drive back due to the ridiculous pricing! Guess what! I was told by the girl, "Can! Please pay us the cancellation fee of S$100." Since when did it become S$100?? I thought I read it was S$50?? ...She replied, "It's a priority evaluation for you since you asked for it!" What can I say? I collected my drive and paid the S$100 to the company... You guys/girls judge whether this is a scam or not... To me... it is an outright scam.

In April 2019, 5 days before I was due to travel, I got the dreaded blue screen errors, and my laptop froze. It was an Acer, so I took it to their service centre. Their view was to buy a new laptop, or they recommended I go to ADRC (Adroit Data Recovery Centre), as they said they would give a 10% discount if they could recover data. So, I went from one side of the city to the other, by bus in the pouring rain. Big mistake. I should have looked at their online reviews first. They demanded $65 just to look, and that was the non-urgent, non-refundable fee. I thought, 'That's okay. It's urgent, as I was travelling.' Then I got the quote. The minimum deposit to start work was $810, and that would not be the final cost. The minimum fee was $300, depending on what they could recover. So I collected my laptop, and since I didn't like their quote, the order was treated as cancelled, and I had to pay $65 to get my laptop back. No one should use this group, as their fee structure is stupidly high. I went elsewhere for $400 and full recovery.

I would give 0 stars if possible. I sent my HDD for data recovery and was told that I had to pay a $90 cancellation fee if I did not agree to their quotation. I asked for an estimate, and they said they could not provide one until they completed their check. The quotation was $2000, which did not even guarantee a full recovery of all my data. Of course, I cancelled the service, but I had to pay the $90 cancellation fee plus a $28 delivery charge just to get my HDD back. While most places offer free assessments, this place simply got $118 for the bare minimum. There are better places out there. Engage at your own risk.
