Food is decent. The restaurant has many seats and a good location, but the staff were slow to serve. One has to queue, yet three staff were talking just a few steps away. When I indicated I needed two seats, they simply pointed with their fingers in a direction. During ordering, they didn't provide the paper and pencil; I had to walk over to collect them myself. At the cashier, when paying before the food, they kept confirming items I hadn't ordered. It turned out that, while it's good they recycled the papers, they hadn't properly erased previous pencil orders. This made the ordering process quite messy. Overall, it's not a great dining place because one tends to get irritated eating there, despite the food being decent for its pricing.

Suddenly craved Hor fun. Not many places in JE have it. Remembered I could get it here, so I tried it out. Compared to the type of Hor Fun I had when I was young, this is full of gravy and without the wok hei. Priced at $12.50, I must say the price reflects the quality of the ingredients, not the taste. They use good, I think, tiger-type prawns instead of the grass prawns that most other stalls use nowadays. There are fresh scallops and typical HK Kai Lan, though I prefer the smaller, traditional type of Kai Lan. The Hor fun is warm but not hot and lacks taste, almost plain. So, in a nutshell, for many who prioritize quality ingredients, this is good. But if you're seriously looking for the 古早 (traditional) Hor Fun with wok hei, go elsewhere.

Sorry, but the food here is terrible. For the price, I expected more. The beef brisket noodles in soup were small and didn't taste good. The dry shrimp noodles were overcooked and had too much MSG and salt. I don't recommend this place and will not be dining here again.

Returned to Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room for THIS after spying it on almost every diners’ tables last weekend. These three-piece har cheong gai [a.k.a. prawn paste chicken] are very yummy! 😋 They are fried perfectly with an ultra-crispy texture, and give an intense, distinct fragrance and flavour when I sink my teeth into the chunky wings. I’ll definitely be thinking and drooling over it in the next few days. 🤤

The Sliced Beef Crispy Noodle was nice, light, and crispy. The sauce was smooth and silky. The Tomato Cheese Baked Rice was on the smaller side than expected, and its taste was all right, though I really enjoyed the soup that came with it a lot.

It was my first time visiting this restaurant, and what was very interesting was that cold drinks must come with ice cream; the price remains the same even without the ice cream. This design is quite unique. The taste of the food does not match the price. The waitress (an older sister-like figure) was very friendly and warm, but the service at the counter could use some improvement.

The food is good, and I'm glad this HK-style cafe is still around. We always enjoy the food here. No service charge, too! :)

I haven’t eaten at this restaurant in forever, but the food is still so comforting and nostalgic. The price did increase significantly, though. Regardless, I think it’s still worth visiting occasionally.

Not sure why the negative reviews. I personally really loved how attentive the staff were! I went for dinner. The staff checked in twice if I needed chili for the 滑蛋河粉. Ingredients were fresh, and the hor fun was not too salty. Everything for this dish was just right. I LOVED IT. The chef deserves a raise! I had to order one without meat, and was pleasantly surprised to see that more vegetables were added without me asking. I tried the milk tea for the first time today and liked it a lot too! I dream about this wa dan hor every day, and now I will dream about their milk tea too, hehe.

It has been a while since I've been here, and I was shocked to discover that the quality of the food has dropped so drastically. The noodles were clumped together despite our showering them with the soup provided. The wontons and dumplings had not much taste except a "frozen" taste, making it obvious that the shrimp they used were frozen. The overall experience was disappointing, and we will not be back.
